Low-Level RF LLRF systems are critical for maintaining a stable electromagnetic field to accelerate particle beams. Its purpose is to regulate the amplitude and phase of the RF field in the accelerating structures using feedback loops, and to automate the operation of the RF station (setup, calibration, optimization, diagnostics, etc.). The modern digital LLRF systems enable a suite of advanced functions that are typically implemented as a set of software tools as also called LLRF applications.
Typical applications include:Setting the RF system operating point
Identifying RF system models
Optimizing feedback controllers
Diagnosing system status and performance
Automating operational procedures
This project is divided into two parts:Core Task: Study algorithms for LLRF applications through simulation or testing with Python/Matlab at the LLRF test stand
Advanced Task (for experienced students): Implement the refined applications into a software package for the daily operation of the LLRF system
