The Vice President, Head of Medical Affairs, Europe functions as the leader of BeOne Medicines medical affairs activities in Europe, is responsible for building, shaping and leading the medical affairs team to develop and implement medical affairs strategies in line with business objectives and in coordination with key internal stakeholders.
He / She supports BeOne Clinical and Medical assets by successfully developing a late-phase/post-approval clinical development strategy. He / She will partner with pre-approval clinical development Program leads and support the execution of medical affairs programs and deliverables in partnership across the organization. A key accountability will include partnership with external academicians and collaboration partners.
This role is a member of the Global Medical Affairs Leadership Team and the European Leadership Team and is based in Basel, Switzerland.
Essential Functions of the JobAs a leader in the organization, the Vice President, Medical Affairs, Europe is accountable to help assure that activities are executed within expected scope, budget and times. He/She will also ensure best-in-class global capabilities and service and will play a key role in the establishment, leadership and growth of the following areas:

Build and lead an Industry - wide and Investigator respected European Medical Affairs Team
Support the scientific evolution of the Investigator Initiated and Collaborator Research program.
Serve in a leadership position on the Investigator Research Program Committee.
Build strong relationships with internal experts.
Develop and maintain relationships with international collaborative organizations (e.g., COOP Groups, Government and Privately funded research initiatives).
Build and support critical professional and scientific relationships in the medical and scientific communities including KOLs and key decision makers. Plan, organize, execute and lead Company-sponsored European investigator meetings, advisory boards, and other medical meetings; attend European and international congresses, symposia, etc., as required.
Establish and maintain a compliant, supportive partnership with the Commercial organization.
Serve as content expert in support of Medical / Clinical Advisory Boards & Symposia, the Field Medical program and internal training.
Identify continuous process improvement opportunities.
Identify incremental organizational resource needs - staff, budget and systems.
Develop, track, execute and report on goals and objectives.
Support budget planning and management.
Be accountable for compliant business practices.
Interact closely with European regulatory group; provide input in European regulatory submission dossiers; participate in meetings with regulators and reimbursement authorities, as required.
Support anticipated product launches.
Review and approve promotional/educational information materials for medical accuracy; support other European medical information activities and European aspects of publication planning in collaboration with Scientific Communications group.
Supervisory Responsibilities:He / She leads, develops and manages the Medical Affairs group in the regional as well as the country medical directors. The incumbent will also ensure that Medical Affairs strategies create value for BeOne products and are aligned with global brand planning, Oncology medical strategy and ongoing late stage development lifecycle management plans
Requirements:Advanced medical training and M.D. degree (or international equivalent) is required.
Minimum of 10-15 years' experience and success within other biotech/pharmaceutical companies, with seven or more years' experience in Medical Affairs is required.
Professional knowledge and skills working with oncology therapeutics in solid tumor and hematologic indications is required.
Global work experience is a plus
A strategic leader with experience working in a global environment is required, along with an appreciation of diversity and multiculturalism, and demonstrated success in building, managing, and developing individuals and teams.
Working knowledge of applicable International Compliance guidelines and regulations is expected.
Experience with the development and support of related Standard Operating Procedures and policies is expected.
Experience with partnerships and strategic alliances is preferred.
Prior management of budgets is preferred.
Prior experience with vendor selection and management is expected.
Knowledge of industry standard Medical Services IT solutions is expected.
Product launch experience is required.
Deep knowledge of the European medical landscape to include working knowledge of applicable compliance guidelines and regulations and familiarity with Country-specific differences in regard to medical practice, the medical system, pharmaceutical pricing and reimbursement.
An understanding of the commercial requisites of marketing an approved oncology drug in the EU and the specific role played by Medical Affairs.
Ability to build strong scientific and professional relationships and engage with top European KOLs through high quality medical information and communication; i.e., round table discussions, publication planning, Oncology conferences and medical events.
Strong leadership capability perspective and broad management experience is critical.
Technical abilities; capable of translating scientific and clinical findings from bench to bedside.
