The team in our technical centre in Bern/Switzerland is mainly focused on providing support and technical competence to our business developers, our site engineers and to offer a strong added value to our customers.



As a part of the VSL Technical Center (TC), you will be responsible for methods works for various projects related to our activities and you will help us to deploy innovative solutions on our customers' projects. VSL hosts its Technical Centres in Bern, Barcelona, Dubai, Singapore, Sydney and Hong Kong. We are looking to reinforce our team in Switzerland (Bern) by recruiting a Methods Engineer able to support our Business Development and Operations teams. We are opening this great opportunity, following an internal evolution of the current holder.



As a Methods Engineer, you will work on projects of all sizes mainly internationally but also in Switzerland, on supporting construction of new structure as well as supporting repair & strengthening Structure related to Civil works projects (bridge, footbridge, civil structure) and special buildings.

Your responsibilities will be:

Responsible for methods works for projects (tender or executions).

Concept or Detailing methods (2D and 3D CAD knowledge required- AUTOCAD , SOLIDWORKS) for civil works including precast segment production, segmental bridge erection with crane and lifting frames, repair projects, stay cable engineering, post-tensionned structure, heavy lifting...

Preparation of methods statements and check lists together with site teams.

Preparation of production start, working sequences with Safety, Ergonomy and lean management aspects.

Scheduling (MS project knowledge).

Temporary works design (mainly steel design).

Steel structure preliminary design (feasibility and tonnage purpose).

Collaborate with other engineers within the teams (Technical Team in Switzerland or in other countries) working on design, stay cable or methods.

Collaborate with the site (execution), the pricing department (tender), and the internal Business Lines.

Technically supporting projects worldwide (missions of several months abroad possible).

Participating in VSL transverse project teams.

Your Profile:

MSc Degree in Civil/ Structural Engineering or equivalent.

At least 1-2 years of relevant experience on project.

Site construction.

A strong motivation in supporting technical services to project.

Able to work under pressure and challenging project.

Excellent analytical skills and strong communications skills (international team and cultures).

A mindset of innovation and early adoption of new digital technologies while staying pragmatic and answering production and financial objectives.

Proficient written and spoken English skills; a plus for other language like Spanish, German.

Knowledge in Post Tensioning structure is a plus.

Proficiency in the german language.
