Role Overview
A prestigious multi-brand luxury resort in the Appenzell region is seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Sous Chef to join its opening team. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to the launch and ongoing success of an exceptional hotel and culinary operation.
Your Main Responsibilities
Ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations during service
Oversee mise-en-place and preparation in all sections
Manage ordering, stock control, and cost management
Ensure proper handling and maintenance of equipment and kitchen materials
Work closely with the Executive Chef, Sous Chefs, and specialty chefs
Train, supervise and onboard new kitchen team members
Ensure compliance with HACCP and all safety standards
Prepare duty rosters and manage time tracking (PMS Abacus)
Handle administrative tasks related to kitchen operations
Support the planning and execution of events
Step in for the Executive Chef during their absence
Contribute to the preparation and presentation of all dishes
Assist with workforce planning and recruitment
Provide coaching and professional feedback to the team
Conduct department-specific training, including Rieber Check Cloud and HACCP processes
Your Profile
Completed culinary apprenticeship and proven experience in a similar high-end role
Strong knowledge of European cuisine
Flexibility with working hours
Independent, clean and precise working style
Good command of English (spoken and written)
German or other languages are an advantage
Ability to remain calm, focused and professional under pressure
