Head of Data & Analytics, Central Europe Region (CER) Commercial

In alignment with our company strategy to enable innovation, growth and productivity by digital and data capabilities, our commercial division has created the commercial Digital, Data and Analytics (DDA) organization. This central organization is focused on using digital, data, and analytics capabilities across the end-to-end commercialization process to drive data-driven decision making on behalf of our patients and customers.

As DDA continues its transformation to bring premier capabilities to the commercial organization, we are seeking a dynamic talent for the role of Executive Director, Head of Data & Analytics, CER. This individual will lead the scale-up of all commercial data and analytics activities in our commercial portfolio for our CER. The role will lead a team of 60+ staff and will grow the team over the next 2-3 years in line with business priorities. The role will be based in Europe with a preference for Lucerne, Switzerland, and will report to the Head of Commercial Analytics & Solutions for commercial in the US.

The commercial analytics team for CER comprises core analytics functions of data science, data visualization, market research, data engineering and data strategy & stewardship capabilities. The scope is to cover all therapeutic areas and markets in CER.

More specifically, the capability will support a portfolio of work across all critical business functions such as, e.g., early indication forecasting, market sizing, launch planning, patient finder, next best engagement, etc. Therefore, the position requires a strong understanding of how analytics can be leveraged for maximum business impact, engagement with senior business partners, and an ability to build scalable teams. The role will also be responsible in driving strategies to enrich our commercial data ecosystem in the region.

The preferred candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, consultative mindset, and an ability to develop analytics solutions to inform commercial strategies. They will have demonstrated consistently strong leadership skills and an ability to hire, motivate and manage large end-to-end analytics teams. This role will require interfacing and collaborating with many teams, so strong communication skills are a must.

Primary Responsibilities:

Lead our Center of Excellence for data and analytics, impacting business across CER markets

Lead engagement with business leaders to drive awareness of the data and analytics capabilities and DDA operating model across CER market teams

Lead the local management team across data science, data visualization, market research, data engineering, data strategy and their respective pyramids

Build a motivated analytics team; promote top talent in analytics and at the interface of data science, technology and business

Shape the hiring criteria and development programs of the capability team to mature data capabilities in the region in line with business demand

Keep abreast of emerging business and analytic trends in the industry and collaborate closely with capability team to apply new techniques to drive effective decision making

Understand stakeholders\\\' priorities and help build solutions that support business objectives

Contribute to innovative experiments, specifically to idea generation, idea incubation and/or experimentation

Keep abreast of new trends and methodologies being implemented / considered within the broader digital, data, analytics industry ecosystem

Establish and manage local relationships with vendor partner ecosystem

Required Experience and Skills:

12+ years of experience in data analytics project delivery and managerial roles

A recognized thought leader and innovator in the development of new tools, healthcare data ecosystem and problem-solving approaches for data science

Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills

Ability to manage large teams locally and within a global matrix organization

Self-motivation, proactivity, and ability to work independently with minimum direction

Proven leadership and influencing skills, along with good analytical / problem-solving skills

Excellent organizational skills, with ability to navigate a complex matrix environment

Demonstrated ability to collaborate and lead with diverse groups of work colleagues and positively manage ambiguity

Strong compliance mindset and ability to lead a high performing complaint innovative organization

Brings high energy and a passionate outlook to the role and has a strong sense of leadership

MBA preferred; undergraduate degree in analytics/quantitative related discipline required

Proven ability to lead in a fast-paced, transformative environment.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

Healthcare or pharmaceutical industry knowledge

Strong background or profile in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, quantitative methods, predictive modeling, and other analytics frameworks/techniques with 10+ years of relevant experience

Prior experience building and leading a large end-to-end commercial analytic organization

Up to 50% travel will be required.
