Industrial Internship in Materials Science & Engineering (gn)

To support our Application Lab in

Balzers/Liechtenstein

we are looking for an intern 100% (neutral gender) for 6 months to start upon agreement.

In the Oerlikon Application Lab, we conduct thorough testing on our thermal spray and PVD coatings, simulating real-life conditions and adhering to international standards to ensure they meet market requirements. Benchmark testing is key not only for quality assurance but also for evaluating performance under various tribological wear mechanisms.

Your tasks

You will prepare test matrices for benchmark wear tests You will support thermal spray campaigns at our Metco facility in Wohlen (CH) You will assist in performing hardness measurements and metallographic evaluations of coatings (microstructure, porosity, thickness, ...) You will conduct wear tests on various lab-scale tribometers You will characterize test specimens and analyze the results You will compile data and prepare results in PowerPoint presentations You will maintain and update the internal wear test database


Your profile

Bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a strong focus on surface technology or tribology (a valid matriculation is required) Individual must have strong work ethic, be detail-oriented, and creative Hands on mentality English knowledge, German is a plus Willingness to travel
