Starting date: February 1st, 2026 Contract duration: 1 year, renewable 2 times for 2 years each, maximum 5 years Workload: 100% Workplace: Lausanne-Dorigny Annual salary: According to the UNIL assistant salary scale (increases each year) Salary scale for assistants

Your responsibilities

50% of the position will be dedicated to the completion of a PhD thesis in the relevant field. 50% will involve supporting teaching and research activities (teaching, participation in collaborative research activities, and involvement in the daily life of the department).

Your qualifications

We are looking to recruit someone with the following profile:
Master's degree in social sciences (sociology, social policy, economics, business, demography, psychology, or similar), with excellent academic results. Interest in empirical research on topics such as: + Vocational education and training
+ Occupations, occupational closure and labor market segmentation
+ Networks among employers
+ Employer decisions regarding hiring and training
+ Educational choices of young people
+ Inequalities in education and the labor market, particularly in relation to gender and migration
Strong skills--or willingness to develop strong skills--in quantitative analysis, and a readiness to gain expertise in specialized statistical methodology. Experience with, or willingness to learn, statistical software such as R, Python, or Stata. Strong academic writing skills and ability to present results in English. Creative, analytical, rigorous, persevering, collaborative, and able to work independently. Proficiency in English (for research) and in French (for teaching support).

A position within the LIVES Centre (LIVES-ISS) at the University of Lausanne - a research center dedicated to understand inequality over the life-course, forming part of the larger LIVES research group at the Univerisites of Geneva and Lausanne.
