Postdoc Researcher On The Economic Assessment Of Innovative Grassland Based Livestock Production

Ettenhausen, ZH, CH, Switzerland

Job Description

This is how you can contribute

----------------------------------

Within the interdisciplinary SNSF-funded research project AgroForageTree you perform an economic assessment of a fodder tree hedgerow system in permanent grasslands used as a supplementary forage resource for livestock. You first develop a concept for the economic assessment (including data collection) of this innovative agroforestry system implemented on seven farms in Western Switzerland. In close collaboration with the other research groups involved in the project you collect the data required on the seven farms and develop the approaches as well as tools needed for the assessment. You evaluate the profitability at plot and farm level of this innovative system as compared to pure grassland systems. You address the economic evaluation uncertainty by carrying out sensitivity analyses. You aditionnally contribute to the economic part of the SNSF-funded project PeaMaps ("Promoting ecological and economic sustainability and animal welfare by matching cattle productivity and site properties in mountain rangelands"). In the project you assess - by means of full-costs accounting - the economic sustainability of dairy cows of different productivity in mountain farming with alpine transhumance. You publish your research in peer-reviewed scientific journals and engage in dissemination activities.

This makes you unique
