Organizational context:
Wherever refugees flee, they carry with them their traditions, culture, and craftsmanship--the skills and knowledge that unite and define a people. MADE51, a global initiative of UNHCR, brings refugee-made products to the world market by supporting local social enterprises to develop and sell artisanal products. The initiative expands economic opportunities for refugees while showcasing their skills and heritage. This internship will focus on MADE51's sales and visibility planning, offering practical learning in operations management and event coordination during a high-impact season.
The position:
The intern will support project coordination, event logistics, and project management planning for Q4 retail and visibility campaigns, and MADE51 participation in internal events. This includes organizing MADE51 pop-ups and partner events, assisting with inventory and order systems, and contributing to the design of toolkits and communication materials. The role offers the intern an ability to apply management skills and practical learning in multi-stakeholder project management, within an international UN setting.
Duties and responsibilities:
Support the planning and coordination of MADE51 visibility and sales events in Geneva and other locations.
Review event management tools and help strengthen tools towards stronger coordination of activities.
Track deliverables and manage logistics for pop-ups, campaigns, and partner events.
Assist in product inventory management, order processing, and display planning.
Prepare internal briefing materials, checklists, and SOPs related to events, sales coordination and visibility.
Help maintain content timelines for Q4 campaigns and events across platforms.
Conduct research and contribute to documenting lessons learned and best practices in visibility and product-based fundraising.
Support day-to-day coordination across the MADE51 team and partners.
Minimum qualifications required:
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO ; and
Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR .
Candidates with previous UNHCR Internship experience must not have exceeded the maximum total cumulative full-time internship duration of eight (8) months.
Desirable qualifications and skills:
Current or recent studies in management, operations, business administration, or related field
Strong organizational and time management skills
Familiarity with project planning tools (e.g., Excel, Trello) and inventory tracking
Interest in refugee inclusion, artisan sector, or social enterprise models.
Strong communication skills and ability to work in multicultural teams
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Canva or event planning tools is an asset
Fluency in English required; French an advantage
Conditions:
It is a full role with working hours starting from 9 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). The successful candidate will be assigned to support the team Geneva.
Internships normally last six months with the possibility of extension up to eight months for full-time internships and twelve months for part-time internships.

Obligations:
Aquiring and renewing current visas, residence permits including all associated costs, obtaining medical certification and compliance with taxation requirements (if applicable), are the responsibility of the intern.
The selected candidate will need to provide UNHCR with a proof of funding from the sponsoring institution (if applicable), health insurance coverage applicable to the assigned internship location and a certificate of good health from a qualified medical practitioner certifying their fitness for work, as well as travel.
In the event the candidate is not able to produce the required certificate, they will not be admitted to the Internship Programme.
Allowance and Travel:
The Sponsoring Institution shall provide non-reimbursable financial support in the form of a stipend/scholarship/allowance/etc. for the period of internship with UNHCR.
Travel expenses to and from the internship location shall be the responsibility of the respective sponsoring institution.
UNHCR is not responsible for any renumeration for the intern during the internship period.
