New course in "Computational modelling for the sustainability sciences" led by Dr Yannick Oswald, Profs Julia Steinberger and Prof Selin Yilmaz of the Institute of Sustainability and Geography -Faculty of Geosciences and Environment at the University of Lausanne. This is an introductory course designed to give students with limited quantitative and programming skills insights into different computational methods and programming environments used in sustainability sciences.

We expect the time commitment to be on average of 10%, with periods of more and less intense work, over the 2025/26 school year. (Potential renewal 2026/2027)





Remuneration :



Fixed hourly rate of "Personnel Administratif et Technique" level 7, programmer and analyst, of 33.93 CHF.

Your responsibilities


-------------------------


1.Program and test educational exercises relevant to the course topics in Python (Jupyter notebooks).



2.Describe and integrate these exercises into an online course textbook hosted on GitHub.



3.Support the team in testing the course components with PhD and Masters students

Your qualifications


-----------------------


Requirements:



STEM or computationally interested social science student (enrolled in B.A., B.Sc., M.A., M.Sc.)


Familiarity with Python for scientific programming


Familiarity with GitHub or strong motivation to become familiar with GitHub


Ability to organise your time and deliver project outcomes


Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary teaching team


Not required, but a plus:



Familiarity with Agent-Based Modelling and Netlogo, as well as system dynamics and Vensim.


Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS and Web Development


A portfolio of demonstrable coding projects
