Job Description

EPAM is seeking an experienced

System Administrator

to join our Virtual Platform team. In this role, you will serve as a key contact for all virtualization activities and participate in the day-to-day support of a large-scale, global virtual infrastructure onsite at one of our prestigious banking sector clients in Zurich.


The Virtual Platform team is responsible for introducing new technologies into the production environment, collaborating closely with the engineering team and maintaining the stability of production systems. Our team operates as a single unit, with members located in the US, UK, Switzerland, Singapore, Krakow and Pune.

Responsibilities



Install, upgrade and patch the IaaS virtual platform environment, including OS, drivers, and firmware, to SME level; experienced with the VMware suite of products Support, maintain and optimize all aspects of the virtual IaaS infrastructure, including Synergy chassis/blades/virtual connects, HP SAN arrays (3PAR, Primera and Alletra models), Brocade switches and network switches Handle escalations, including experience with HCX appliances and network extensions; understand VPN tunnel architecture and Azure networking to SME level Decommission and track Azure-first strategies to minimize on-premises footprint and plan expansions according to environmental needs Interface with service consumers and vendors in all aspects, including escalations; experienced in incident management frameworks Troubleshoot performance management incidents using all available tools, such as VROPS Support datacenter exit activities and build/support migration tools Handle requests within SLA Mentor and guide less experienced engineers, junior graduates and interns Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and represent the team globally in a professional manner; lead junior team members by example

Requirements



Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting virtual platforms as a systems administrator Familiarity with Swiss Red Zone requirements, including permissions and working procedures SME-level understanding of Azure and Azure VMware Service Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to a fast-changing environment Expert knowledge of all components of vSphere products and HPE/Dell hardware, including management servers Expert knowledge of VROPS and migration tools such as HCX Knowledge of HPE Cloud Service Automation and HPE 3PAR SAN storage Ability to work effectively with team members in both local and remote locations Ability to collect and analyze virtual platform capacity and customer demands Fluent English is required; German language skills are an advantage
