Org. Setting and Reporting
The Office of the Executive Director provides strategic leadership for the development and management of the organization. It coordinates the corporate work programme through preparation and monitoring of ITC's Business Plan and the key functions of evaluation, resource mobilization and corporate communications. OBJECTIVES OF FELLOWSHIP This Fellowship opportunity is in collaboration with the Mo Ibrahim Foundation. Established in 2006 the Mo Ibrahim Foundation aims to support good governance and great leadership in Africa. The Foundation works to: o Stimulate debate on good governance; o Provide criteria by which citizens and governments can measure progress; o Recognize achievement in African leadership and provide a practical way in which leaders can build positive legacies on the continent when they have left office; o Support aspiring leaders for the African continent. The Fellowship offers a mentorship experience with the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director of ITC to prepare young Africans for leadership of major organizations and multilateral institutions.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision and guidance of the Chief Adviser to the Executive Director the successful Fellow will: o Contribute to the creation and implementation of strategic assignments related to trade development including private sector issues and specific challenges of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs); o Carry out applicable research as required; o Contribute to the design, development and implementation of strategies for effective Public- Private-Partnerships (PPPs) and generation of resources; o Participate in high-level discussions and preparation of applicable briefing notes and working documentation as required; o Undertake other duties as assigned and required.

Education
Master's degree in economics, business, international development, international relations or related area is required.
Job - Specific Qualification
Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
Work Experience
Minimum seven years of relevant work experience is required. Two years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable. Experience in international trade development and trade related development assistance (TRTA) is desirable. Experience of strategic planning and governance, particularly in a government, international institution or private company is desirable. Experience in research and writing on "trade related topics" in Africa is desirable. Experience in working with projects related to regional integration or SMEs in Africa is desirable.

Assessment
Assessment will be undertaken through a comparative analysis of the applications. The assessment may also include a competency-based interview and/or other appropriate evaluation mechanisms.
Special Notice
To broaden access to international institutional exposure and support the development of future African leaders, priority may be given to qualified African professionals who have not previously had experience with the International Trade Centre. Applicants must hold African nationality. Applicants must be under 40 years of age at time of application (women with children should be under 45 years of age). Applicants will be contacted only if they are under serious consideration. The funding of this fellowship is provided by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation (MIF) and is for a period of one year only. Please note that this fellowship position is not a staff appointment. Therefore, the provisions of the United Nations Staff Regulations and Rules referenced in the 'United Nations Considerations' section below as well as the Position level indicated in this posting title do not apply to this position. Any entitlements are exclusively set out in this Fellowship Agreement, and with no participation in the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund. The selected Fellow will receive a Letter of Award before commencement of service. ITC shall in no case be responsible for the family and dependents of fellows. ITC does not provide support for the families of fellows to obtain work/residential permits. The monthly stipend rates are sufficient only to cover the normal living expenses of one person, and no allowances of any kind will be paid for dependents. Fellows are recommended not to bring family members to the duty station.
