EPAM is looking for an experienced Middleware & Infrastructure Engineer specializing in API Management to join our Zurich-based team. As part of the API Management Infrastructure group, you will collaborate with experts to design, deploy, and maintain advanced infrastructure that supports client applications. This role provides an opportunity to work on impactful projects that benefit both internal operations and external client services.

Responsibilities

Evaluate technical drivers behind requested changes and assess them against the current infrastructure Analyze the broader context of change requests, challenge assumptions, and propose suitable solutions Collaborate with upstream and downstream teams to ensure alignment of technical requirements and successful system integration Document and refine functional and non-functional requirements using appropriate tools and methodologies Work closely with software and test engineers to support the implementation of user stories Identify risks early in project cycles and collaborate with stakeholders and product owners to address them proactively Share knowledge with the team to drive continuous improvement and establish best practices Create detailed technical documentation and user guides for delivered solutions

Requirements

Expertise in API integration platforms such as Google Apigee, Oracle Service Bus, WSO2, Kong, or custom-built API gateways Proven experience in designing secure, scalable, and maintainable API solutions for global and multi-region environments Strong understanding of API protocols like REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and messaging systems Comprehensive knowledge of API security concepts including OAuth2, OIDC, mTLS, and other authentication and authorization mechanisms Familiarity with load balancing strategies and traffic routing across distributed systems Understanding of multi-tier application architectures and how components interact within them Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to onboard client applications and provide API-first integration guidance Proficiency in debugging and resolving issues within distributed systems Strong understanding of OpenAPI specifications

Nice to have

Experience with Java programming Hands-on experience with Linux system administration, including user management, troubleshooting, log analysis, and performance monitoring for memory and CPU Familiarity with Azure core services such as NSG, EntraID, and Azure Load Balancer Knowledge of AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service)
