EPAM is seeking a skilled Middleware & Infrastructure Engineer with expertise in API Management to join our team in Zurich. As part of the API Management Infrastructure team, you will work with talented professionals to design, implement, and manage advanced infrastructure that supports client applications. Responsibilities

Analyze technical drivers for requested changes and evaluate them within the context of the existing environment Explore the broader implications of change requests, challenge assumptions, and recommend effective solutions Work closely with upstream and downstream teams to align technical requirements and ensure successful integration Gather, document, and refine functional and non-functional requirements using appropriate methodologies and tools Collaborate with software and test engineers to support the implementation of user stories Identify project risks early and work with product owners and stakeholders to address them proactively Share expertise and contribute to team growth by refining processes and promoting best practices Create comprehensive technical specifications and user documentation for delivered solutions

Requirements

Strong expertise in API integration platforms such as Google Apigee, Oracle Service Bus, WSO2, Kong, or custom-built API gateways Proven ability to design and deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable API solutions for global and multi-region environments Solid understanding of API protocols including REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and messaging systems In-depth knowledge of API security concepts such as OAuth2, OIDC, mTLS, and other authentication and authorization mechanisms Familiarity with load balancing strategies and traffic routing across distributed systems Understanding of multi-tier application architectures and the interaction between components Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to onboard client applications and provide guidance on API-first integration strategies Proficient in debugging and resolving issues in distributed systems Strong knowledge of OpenAPI specifications

Nice to have

Experience with Java development Practical experience with Linux system administration, including user management, troubleshooting, log analysis, and performance monitoring for memory and CPU Familiarity with Azure core services such as NSG, EntraID, and Azure Load Balancer Knowledge of AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service)
