EPAM is seeking a skilled Middleware & Infrastructure Engineer with a focus on API Management to join our team in Zurich. As part of the API Management Infrastructure team, you will work alongside talented professionals to design, implement, and maintain cutting-edge infrastructure that powers client applications. Responsibilities

Assess the technical drivers behind requested changes and analyze them in relation to the existing environment Explore the broader context of change requests, challenge assumptions, and recommend effective solutions Collaborate with upstream and downstream teams to align technical requirements and ensure seamless integration Gather, document, and refine functional and non-functional requirements using suitable tools and techniques Work closely with software and test engineers to support the implementation of user stories Identify and mitigate risks associated with projects, working closely with product owners and stakeholders Share expertise and contribute to continuous improvement within the team by refining processes and practices Create detailed technical specifications and user documentation for delivered solutions

Requirements

Advanced knowledge of API integration platforms such as Google Apigee, Oracle Service Bus, WSO2, Kong, or custom-built API gateways Experience in designing and deploying secure, scalable, and maintainable API solutions in global and multi-region environments Strong understanding of API integration protocols, including REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and messaging systems Deep knowledge of API security concepts, including authentication and authorization mechanisms like OAuth2, OIDC, and mTLS Familiarity with load balancing strategies and how traffic is routed across services Understanding of multi-tier application architecture and component interactions Ability to collaborate with diverse teams to onboard client applications and advise on API-first integration strategies Proficient in debugging and resolving issues in distributed systems Expertise in working with OpenAPI specifications

Nice to have

Experience with Java programming Hands-on skills in Linux system administration, including user management, log analysis, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring for memory and CPU Familiarity with Azure core services such as NSG, EntraID, and Azure Load Balancer Knowledge of AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service)
