EPAM is looking for an experienced Middleware & Infrastructure Engineer specializing in API Management to join our team in Zurich. As a member of the API Management Infrastructure team, you will collaborate with skilled professionals to design, build, and maintain advanced infrastructure that supports our clients' applications. Responsibilities

Analyze technical drivers behind requested changes and evaluate them against the current environment Identify the broader context behind change requests, challenge assumptions, and propose optimal solutions Coordinate technical requirements with upstream and downstream teams and interfaces Elicit, document, and refine functional and non-functional requirements using appropriate tools and methodologies Collaborate with software and test engineers to support the implementation of user stories Proactively identify and address project risks in collaboration with product owners and stakeholders Share knowledge within the team to foster continuous improvement in processes and practices Prepare technical specifications and user documentation for end products

Requirements

Expertise in API integration using platforms such as Google Apigee, Oracle Service Bus, WSO2, Kong, or custom-built API gateways Experience designing and implementing secure, scalable, and maintainable API solutions in multi-region and global contexts Strong knowledge of API integration protocols such as REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and messaging systems Solid understanding of API security concepts, including authentication and authorization mechanisms like OAuth2, OIDC, and mTLS Familiarity with load balancing strategies and traffic routing across services Knowledge of multi-tier application architecture and component interactions Ability to work with cross-functional teams to onboard client applications and provide API-first integration consulting Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across distributed systems Proficiency in working with OpenAPI specifications

Nice to have

Knowledge of Java Hands-on experience with Linux system administration, including user management, log analysis, basic troubleshooting, and memory/CPU analysis Familiarity with Azure core services such as NSG, EntraID, and Azure Load Balancer Experience with AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service)
